High pressure hoses take quite a beating from pressurized water and can wear out over time. They can burst, leak, or just become less flexible than they should be.

Choosing the right hose for your power washer will make it easier to wash the driveway or deck without worrying about the hose wearing out. There are three main factors to consider:

Pressure Rating

High-pressure hoses are meant to withstand a lot of power over long periods of time, and after so much use they can start to wear down and need replacing. It's important to get a replacement that has been built with high durability so you can continue using your power washer without worrying about damaging it or getting water pressure too low. The three main factors in choosing a new hose are its pressure rating, length and diameter. Small (1/4") hoses are designed for consumer-grade electric and small gas pressure washers, while large (3/8") hoses are made for professional models and some prosumer-grade gas pressure washers that require higher water volume (more gallons per minute).

The material in which the hose is constructed will also help determine how flexible it is, and if it's going to kink or curl easily.

Length

Material

High-pressure hoses have to withstand immense amounts of pressure for long periods of time. As such, they can be made of a number of materials. Choosing the right material is important because it can impact how flexible the hose is, whether it leaves marks on your driveway or deck, and how long it will last before you need to replace it.

Sews end of cloth to leader in machine, using portable sewing machine. Turns valves to admit water into wet-out boxes, raise or lower contact rollers that press cloth against gigging cylinder, and adjusts entering guides according to specifications for style of napped cloth. Examines and feels napped cloth to determine that finish conforms to standards. May also fuse decorative emblems, monograms, labels, and collar stays to hats or garment parts.
